ORPAT

I recently passed the ORPAT. It was tough, especially for an old man like me. Seems that the part I was most worried about turned out to be the easiest. I will have to take this again when I apply for full-time status with the department. I will definitely improve my time. For those that don't know what the ORPAT is, it's a physical abilities test given by some law enforcement departments. I took mine for the McMinnville Police Department. Trying to become a reserve police officer. Here's a youtube video of the ORPAT.

Finally, an update

I haven't been feeling up to updating lately. This is from the 6A state high school baseball championship this weekend.

Wow! It's been a long time since I've updated. Guess it's time now. I'm working on my third day of shooting the OSAA girls basketball championships for 5A and 6A. They've been about 14 hour days...brutal. I love basketball so I don't mind too much. Saturday is the last day. Can't wait to shoot the championship finals.

December Snowfall

We have gotten a lot of snow here. The images in the slideshow were taken on different days. Seems like everytime we look out the window snow is falling from the sky. Usually the snow stays in the higher elevations and we get a little here and there, but not this much. Rain is usually the order of the day. DeShaun's school was closed for a week because of the snow. And now he is off for another 2 weeks for winter break. He's been out playing and having a good time with some of his friends.

There are a lot of roads closed in the Portland area. The Airport had over 100 flights cancel. Traction tires and chains are required. Our cars are snowed in pretty good. Even if we got our cars out of the driveway, the roads in our neighborhood are not plowed. This doesn't happen much so it's not in the towns budget. So we are pretty much snowed in. We can walk to the store but other than that we are not going far.

Looks like there will be snow on the ground for Christmas.

State Volleyball

Shot state volleyball over the weekend. 2 very long days. These are images that I used to update my SportsShooter page with.

Halloween Halftime Show

DeShaun was part of the half-time show at the McMinnville vs. Newberg football game Halloween night. The high school dance team and a few kids did Michael Jackson's Thriller dance. The kids had a week of rehearsal and got a DVD to take home to practice. I had to actually shoot the game that night so I was on the field to get a few images of him. Jen had the camcorder but for some reason couldn't get it working.....love ya honey :x
He was a vampire that night. He had make-up on but it rubbed off by the time we got to the field. We started out trick or treating kind of early. He had a party to get to then the half-time show. There was some houses he would not walk up to, not even if I walked with him. He was too scared of some of the decorations. Where we went for the party, they had a cool zombie thing that made noise and pushed itself up when you walked by it. One second DeShaun was with me about to walk up the porch and then I turn around and he is standing on the sidewalk. LOL!!!! They had to open the garage for him so he could enter the house. Too funny.

DeShauns Boo Boo

DeShaun got a small gash near his cheekbone playing silent ball after school at KOB. Not really sure what silent ball is. He said he was trying to catch a ball thrown to him but he had to reach for it and fell and hit the edge of a bench that is part of a lunch table. (KOB is held in the cafeteria after school). I had to take him to the emergency room to get some stitches. Being a little kid he doesn't like needles and he let the nurses and doctor know that. His face lit up with a smile when he was told he wouldn't need to have any needles. The doctor just "glued" the gash together. This morning his eye was swollen. Looked like he was on the losing end of a fight :).

State Softball Championships

I shot 3 state title softball games on Saturday. All great games. All went into extra innings. Winners of the 3 games only won by a run. Shot close to 1,000 images. Here's 10 that I updated my SportsShooter page with.

DeShaun played soccer for the first time this year. He did pretty well for his first year. I didn't make it to many games because of work and when I did go I didn't take any photos. Sequoia took this picture. Next year if he plays I will definitely get to more games and will take my camera.

Wedding Reception

This is a proof book cover for a reception that I shot for Nick and Danell at the Thirst Wine Bar in Downtown Portland recently. Fun event to shoot. The family was great to work with.
